MAGNETIC SWITCHES

MAGNETIC SWITCHES
Working principle A reed contact in a housing is actuated by a permanent magnet. This allows magnetic switches to be used as limit switches. For checking movement (motion sensors etc.) pairs of magnets with opposing magnetic poles are mounted onto a shaft (or some other moving or rotating component) so that they pass very close to a magnetic switch. If the contact is not triggered within a specified time interval, a state of standstill or under-speed will be recognised. Rotation speed and linear speed can be monitored using the same principle. With a suitable arrangement of magnets on a rotating appliance, magnetic switches can be used to sense the direction of rotation. Area of application As a limit switch and for the sensing of continuous movement or the speed of movement on a wide variety of rotating and other machinery. Temperature -20 °C to 80 °C Materials Brass, stainless-steel, glass fibre reinforced polyamide, aluminium, polyethylene. Output Switched output or continuous analogue output through suitable measurement converters. For sensing the speeds of rotation in a range from 200 - 3000 rpm. Fitting and Types Right-angled or cylindrical switch housing; mounted using nuts, screws or pins and thus suited to a large number of applications. More Info Price
